Streetscape Construction
Santa Fe Drive is OPEN During Construction
Major infrastructure and streetscape improvements are now underway along Santa Fe Drive. Multiple agencies, utilities, contractors, and community partners are working throughout the corridor as part of this significant investment in Santa Fe Drive.
The Santa Fe Business Improvement District is working closely with project partners to keep our businesses, property owners, residents, customers, and community informed throughout construction.
Please continue to support Santa Fe Drive businesses during construction.
Current Construction Update
Construction activity continues to increase along Santa Fe Drive as multiple infrastructure projects move forward simultaneously.
Denver Water has advanced its water-main replacement work between West 10th and West 11th avenues, with planned road closures and temporary water outages.
Xcel Energy is beginning gas line relocation work between West 6th and West 8th avenues, requiring temporary lane and parking restrictions.
Hamon Infrastructure continues preparing the corridor for streetscape improvements, with additional roadway and stormwater construction anticipated later this month.
Businesses, residents, employees, and visitors are encouraged to review the latest construction updates, access maps, and traffic changes to plan ahead.
Santa Fe Drive remains OPEN. Our businesses remain OPEN and accessible!
If you experience an urgent construction-related issue, please contact the appropriate project or emergency number first, then notify the Santa Fe BID so we can assist with communication, coordination, and follow-up.
We are here to help you navigate construction while keeping Santa Fe Drive open for business.
Current Work by Project
Water Main Replacement
Denver Water is replacing aging water infrastructure along Santa Fe Drive.
As of Oct. 8, Denver Water crews started the water main installation between West 10th and West 11th avenues.
West 10th Avenue will be closed between Inca and Kalamath streets during work hours to allow crews to complete intersection improvements. After that work is complete, Santa Fe Drive will be fully closed between West 10th and West 11th avenues from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Flaggers will be on site to maintain access to nearby alleyways. At the end of each workday, the trench will be patched with asphalt before the road reopens.
Businesses will remain open, and local access will be maintained during construction. Visitors should use available side street access and follow posted signage.
Commuters should expect delays and follow the signed detour route: east on West 6th Avenue to Speer Boulevard, then north to West 13th Avenue and back west to Santa Fe Drive.
Schedules may change because of permitting, weather, field conditions, testing, or other unforeseen circumstances.

The current project information supplied to the BID states that work between West 10th and West 11th was expected to take approximately three to four weeks per block, with the overall pipe-replacement project scheduled for early 2027.
Streetscape Construction Contractor
Hamon Infrastructure will continue work along Santa Fe Drive to maintain a lane of traffic during Xcel Energy’s gas line relocation between 6th and 8th Avenues.
Schedule Update: Temporary paving originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, has been moved to Monday, Oct. 12. While paving will not take place Saturday, crews will still be working on-site from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. A left-lane closure and flagging operations will be in place as crews prepare the west side of the roadway for temporary pavement installation.
Later in October, crews are anticipated to begin roadway removals and underground stormwater work on Santa Fe Drive between W. 12th and W. 13th Avenues, beginning on the east side of Santa Fe Drive.
As schedules are confirmed, we will provide more detailed information about construction activities, access, traffic changes, and other potential impacts.
Updates will be shared through newsletters, flyers, and direct handouts to businesses and residents in the affected areas. We will continue providing information as construction progresses and conditions change.
