Streetscape Construction

Santa Fe Drive is OPEN During Construction

Major infrastructure and streetscape improvements are now underway along Santa Fe Drive. Multiple agencies, utilities, contractors, and community partners are working throughout the corridor as part of this significant investment in Santa Fe Drive.

The Santa Fe Business Improvement District is working closely with project partners to keep our businesses, property owners, residents, customers, and community informed throughout construction.

Please continue to support Santa Fe Drive businesses during construction.

Current Construction Update

Construction continues along Santa Fe Drive as Denver Water, Xcel Energy, and Hamon Infrastructure advance infrastructure improvements throughout the corridor.

Denver Water continues water-main replacement work between West 10th and West 11th avenues, including pipeline connections, hydrant installation, and water quality testing. A planned water outage is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Road closures and traffic restrictions remain in effect.

Xcel Energy continues gas line relocation work between West 6th and West 8th avenues, with single-lane traffic and temporary parking restrictions. Business and driveway access will remain available.

Hamon Infrastructure continues streetscape preparations, with roadway removals and underground stormwater improvements anticipated between West 12th and West 13th avenues later this month.

Businesses, residents, employees, and visitors are encouraged to review the latest construction updates, access maps, road closures, and parking restrictions before traveling through the corridor.

Santa Fe Drive remains OPEN. Our businesses remain OPEN and accessible!

If you experience an urgent construction-related issue, please contact the appropriate project or emergency number first, then notify the Santa Fe BID so we can assist with communication, coordination, and follow-up.

We are here to help you navigate construction while keeping Santa Fe Drive open for business.

Current Work by Project

Denver Water

Water Main Replacement

Denver Water continues replacing aging water infrastructure along Santa Fe Drive, with Phase Four nearing completion between West 10th and West 11th Avenues.

Crews will conduct pipeline connections, install a fire hydrant, complete additional pipe installation, and perform water quality testing throughout the week.

Monday, Oct. 19: A planned water outage is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a pipeline connection on the west side of 10th Avenue.

Traffic restrictions remain in effect, including closures along West 10th Avenue between Kalamath and Inca streets and Santa Fe Drive between West 10th and West 11th Avenues during active construction. Flaggers will assist with local alley access.

Businesses remain OPEN and accessible. Visitors should follow posted detours, use available side-street access, and allow additional travel time.

Looking ahead, crews will move to West 12th Avenue and work south toward West 11th Avenue for the final phase of the project.

Schedules are tentative and subject to change due to weather, permitting, field conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances.

Hamon Infrastructure

Streetscape Construction Contractor

Hamon Infrastructure will continue work along Santa Fe Drive to maintain a lane of traffic during Xcel Energy’s gas line relocation between 6th and 8th Avenues.

Schedule Update: The first phase of the Santa Fe Streetscapes project will begin Monday, October 26, with Hamon Infrastructure starting roadway removal and underground stormwater improvements along Santa Fe Drive between 12 th Ave and 13th Ave. Work will begin on the east side of Santa Fe Drive and will require a closure of the right travel lane and temporary removal of on- street parking on both sides of Santa Fe Drive from 12th Ave to just north of 13 th Ave.

This phase of construction will also require a full closure of 13th Ave at the intersection on the east side of Santa Fe Drive. In preparation for construction, crews are currently removing trees and pedestrian lighting along Santa Fe Drive between 12 th and 13 th Ave. These removals are necessary to prepare the area for the planned roadway and underground improvements.

Updates will be shared through newsletters, flyers, and direct handouts to businesses and residents in the affected areas. We will continue providing information as construction progresses and conditions change.

  • New Denver Enterprise Zone Boundaries. The Denver Enterprise Zone Program offers tax credits to businesses in specific areas for activities like job creation, employee training, and investing in property. View the updated boundaries on the interactive Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade’s (OEDIT) website here.

  • Denver BizHub: The Denver BizHub is a centralized resource for small business owners to connect with City programs, technical assistance, financing resources, and other business support. Businesses can use the Hub to identify resources that fit their needs and get connected to additional assistance.

  • Business Resource Navigation: DEDO can help Santa Fe businesses identify programs, financing, and other resources that may fit their needs. Businesses that need additional support can contact Lauren Myerscough (lauren.myerscough@denvergov.org) by email to discuss their needs and identify appropriate next steps or referrals.
