These hand-carved figures represent Lampiao & Maria Bonita, a famous outlaw couple from Brazil's history. Prominent figures in the Cangaco movement, a form of social banditry in Northeast Brazil during the 1920s & 1930s. Often referred to as the "Bonnie & Clyde of South America" due to their notarious outlaw status & romanticized image.
